Brazos County is in Texas Trauma Service Area(TSA) N, including the six surrounding counties. Patients treated locally are also transferred from outside the TSA from locations as far away as El Paso to increase other areas’ capacity.

Of the 104 people currently hospitalized in TSA N, only 41 are Brazos County residents. Earlier in the year, the majority of COVID-19 patients hospitalized were from inside Brazos County.

The percentage of COVID patients in area hospitals has increased over the past month. This increase has coincided with a reduction in hospital capacity. Hospital capacity fluctuates with staffing levels, employee vacations, and staff illness. When the hospital capacity decreases, the percentage of COVID patients will increase even if there is no increase in total patients.

Brazos County is in TSA N
