Country star Aaron Lewis joined The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens on her show “Candace” for an interview Tuesday on his No. 1 Country Billboard hit “Am I the Only One.” Lewis blasted Bruce Springsteen, who he belittles in the track as hating America.

In the song’s bridge, Lewis sings, “Am I the only one who quits singin’ along every time they play a Springsteen song?” While speaking to Owens, he elaborated on his thought process.

“Because he’s always been, he’s like always portrayed himself as the all-American middle-class guy,” Lewis said. “And during all of this craziness, he said that if one man is reelected to the office of the presidency that he was going to move to Australia. How American is that? You’re going to bail on America just because you don’t like the guy that may have gotten into office?”

Owens responded, “I hope that the lesson people get from this is that it pays to be honest. I think there’s always a reward for telling the truth.”

Lewis, 49, released “Am I the Only One” on July 2, just in time for Independence Day. The patriotic singer debuted the song in Fort Worth, Texas at a solo concert. He also released merchandise with an American flag.

Springsteen has often belittled the nation and said last November he planned to be “on the next plane” to Australia should former President Donald Trump win reelection in 2020. He also insinuated that the U.S. is systemically racist last summer, saying, “We need systemic changes in our law enforcement departments and the political will of our national citizenry…”

Lewis’s track highlights the lack of patriotism in America today. He remarks on statues being taken down from the past, as well as flags being burned in the streets. Country artist Toby Keith similarly released a song lamenting divides in the country titled “Happy Birthday America” a few days prior.

“We decided we were going to get together and write an honest song about what we all just had gone through in our own lives with the shutdown and the craziness we’ve watched on
